Jerry S. Swenson, 72, of Superior, died Friday, March 30, 2012 at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center.

Jerry S. Swenson, 72, of Superior, died Friday, March 30, 2012 at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 22, 1939 in Superior, son of Swan and Genevieve (Hoover) Swenson.

Jerry served his country with the United States Marine Corps, and was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Preceding him in death were his parents and sister, Joanne Dellies.

Survivors include his wife, Judith; son, Alvin Swenson, Sheboygan, Wis.; daughter, Ruthie Swenson, Sheboygan, Wis.; 7 grandchildren; and brother, Larry (Barbara) Swenson, Superior.

Visitation will be from 10 until the 11 a.m. service Thursday, April 5, at the Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th St., Superior. Major Rosemary Matson of the Superior Salvation Army will officiate.

Committal prayers will be at the Veterans Memorial Park, Greenwood Cemetery, Superior, with military rites accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post No. 435.

Everyone is then invited to the Superior Salvation Army, 916 Hughitt Avenue, for cake and coffee.
