Virginia Marie Erickson, 62, of Superior, died Sunday, March 18, 2012, at Essentia Health St. Mary's, Duluth.

Virginia Marie Erickson, 62, of Superior, died Sunday, March 18, 2012, at Essentia Health St. Mary's, Duluth.

She was born March 21, 1949, in Superior, daughter of Charles and Edna (Smith) Hoffman.

Virginia was a 1967 graduate of Superior Senior High School.

On Jan. 15, 1977, in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Superior, Virginia M. Hoffman and Edward R. Erickson were united in marriage.

Virginia worked as a residential counselor for Harborview Group Home for 17 years.

Some of her interests included bicycling, walking her dog, window shopping and spending time loving her grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Edward "Ray Ray" Erickson; daughter, Linda Erickson, Duluth; grandchildren, Matthew, Christifer, Akasha, Corey and Cole; and sister, Julie Scott, Sedro Woolley, Wash.

Visitation will be from 10 until the 11 a.m. service Thursday, March 22, at Hope Congregational Church, 1827 Wyoming Ave., Superior. Rev. Michael Casperson will officiate.

Committal prayers will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.

Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Ray Ray and family - All of us at the Eagles Club want to express our deepest sympathy with the loss of your wife. We were glad to hear that she was happy at the end where she was at. Now she is in a better place with no pain or suffering. Our thoughts are with you and your family. Kermit & Joyce Littler

I'm so sorry to hear about Virginia's passing. I worked with her at Harborview for several years. She was a compassionate and caring person. Thoughts and prayers for Ray and her daughter. Peggy Strom
