Donald L. Almer, 75, of Superior, died Feb. 28, 2012, at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Hospice, Duluth.
Donald L. Almer, 75, of Superior, died Feb. 28, 2012, at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Hospice, Duluth.
He was born Jan. 31, 1937 in Superior, son of Arthur and Mildred (Little) Almer.
Donald worked many years for Jeno's, Incorporated.
Some of his interests included walking, playing cards, bingo, food and spending time with family, especially time with his grandchildren. He loved people and people loved him. Yes, he would walk from one end of Superior to the other and everyone he met knew him. He will be greatly missed.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Sharon in 1980; sons, Alfred in 1982 and Larry in 1995; very special grandmothers, Lutie Little and Lucy Staples; brother, Bob Almer; infant nephew, Artie; and step-father, Hugh McDonald.
Survivors include his daughter, Lucy Almer, Duluth; grandchildren, Timothy, Dreamah, Myra and Kingston; brothers, Jon (LaVonne) Almer, Gordon, and Dennis (Nancy) Almer, Minong, Wis.; sister, Joan (Jack) Hagwood, Chico, Calif.; aunts, Jacqueline Peterson, Superior, Caroline Little, Superior, and June Little, Poplar; uncle, James (Dolores) Little, Edmunds, Wash.; mother-in-law, Evelyn Staples, Danbury, Wis.; sister-in-law Julie Audie, Danbury, Wis.; three brothers-in-law, Larry Livingston, Ronald Audie, Ronald J. Staples, all of Danbury, Wis.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Abdul Oseini, nurses and staff on 8 east and 3 east at Essentia Health-St. Mary's, Duluth, for their care and concern.
Lucy extends a very special thank you to Aunt Joan and Uncle Jack. A special thank you to Aunt Jackie, Judy Hackett, Michelle Barth, Katie Almer, Jim Beckwell, Diane Slick, Tammi Patnaade, and Pastor Steve. Services will be held at a later date.
Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior, is assisting the family with arrangements.
