Phillip Drobot, 57, of Superior, died Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at his daughter's residence, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Phillip Drobot, 57, of Superior, died Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at his daughter's residence, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Phil was born in Superior on July 22, 1954, the son of Mary and Paul Drobot. He graduated from Superior High School with the class of 1972.
He started his career as a mechanic at the age of 16, working for George Bleskan's Texaco. He then owned and operated Phil's Mobile and Phil's Auto Repair.
Phil loved to be around people and socialize. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing softball, bowling and to dance. He was an avid Brewers and Packers Fan. Most important to him were his girls and his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, a brother Patrick and Heidi Gouge.
Phil is survived by his mother, Mary; two daughters, Clarissa (Adam) Erickson and Carey Drobot all of Superior; grandchildren, Hailey and Judd Erickson and Brayden Simmons; brothers and sister, Paul S. (Sandy) Drobot of Milwaukee, Russ (Mary) Drobot of Superior, Maria (Rick) Plasch of South Range and Tim Drobot of Hayward; 16 nieces and nephews and 15 great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Thursday Feb. 23, from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. memorial service at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Rev. Darrell L. Nelson, pastor of Mission Covenant Church in Poplar, will officiate.
Honorary Pallbearers will be, Tim Soderlund, Carl Mencel, Randy Wichlidal, Mick Wing, Gordy Carlson, Jason Sigfrids, Milton Aho, Rick Plasch and Dean Salo.
