Verna D. Jensen, 100, a longtime Superior resident, died Sunday Feb. 5, 2012, in Miller-Dwan Hospital.
Verna D. Jensen, 100, a longtime Superior resident, died Sunday Feb. 5, 2012, in Miller-Dwan Hospital.
She was born in Minneapolis, Minn. on March 4, 1911 to John and Ann Miller. Verna was a member of Cathedral of Christ the King, and a former member of a Figure Skating Club. She had worked at Holzberg-Hawkins Laundry as a Marker.
She was preceded in death by her husband Archie, and her parents.
She is survived by her son Jon of Superior, sister Elizabeth Wiesner of Superior; grandchildren Shawn (Jenny) Jensen, Andrea Jensen, and Larissa Jensen; great-grandchildren Justin, Jenna, and Giulianna.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012 from 9:30 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. memorial service in Thompson-Hegstrom Funeral Home. Rev. Andrew Ricci will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.

100 years old! Had I known, I would have visited her on my return trips to Superior. She was a favorite of mine... Such a gracious lady. To this very day I often sit with my toes tucked backwards beneath my feet, imitating the way she always sat in her younger years. And, I think of her with fond memories.
