Ruth Annira Raley, 91, of Superior died Sun., Jan. 15, 2012, at Essentia
Health-St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth. She was born Aug. 3, 1920, in Grand Forks, N.D. and has resided here since 1976.
Ruth had done managerial work for elder housing at Royalton Manor when it was affiliated with Catholic Charities. She had also worked with other elder housing authorities in north east Minnesota.
Ruth was preceded in death by her first husband, Vernon G. Lager in 1984; her second husband, George O. Raley in 1989; a beloved son, John F. Lager in 2008; sisters, Wanda Neumaier and Donna Darling; and a brother, Harvey Kier.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Sharon Lager, Washington D.C., Jeffrey (Debbie) Lager, Centeville, Ohio, and Catherine (Herb Brown) Lager, Boston, Mass; grandchildren, Jennifer and Andrea Lager; a cousin, Idelle O'Brien of Duluth; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial on Fri., Jan. 20 in Cathedral of Christ the King with the Rev. William Murphy as celebrant. Committal prayers will take place at Oneota Cemetery, Duluth.
If desired, memorials may be made to the Superior Salvation Army or the American Heart Association.
Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th St., is assisting the family with arrangements.
