Marjorie Tucker, 88, lifelong Superior area resident, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital, Duluth.
Marjorie Tucker, 88, lifelong Superior area resident, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital, Duluth.
She was born Oct. 6, 1923, in Superior, the daughter of Samuel and Inez (Schachte) Davis.
Marjorie graduated from Cathedral High School in 1941 and worked as a registered nurse for St. Mary's and St. Joseph's Hospitals in Superior, retiring in 1980 from St. Luke's Hospital.
She married Francis Tucker on Dec. 28, 1948, and they had celebrated 50 years of marriage before his passing in April 1999.
Marjorie was a member of Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church and choir, member of Cathedral Parish Visitors, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court 1190 and also was a St. Francis Nursing Home volunteer.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan (Michael) Poole, Portland, Ore. and Kathleen (John) Slazas, Vass, N.C.; six grandchildren, Lee, Jeffrey and Shawn Polaski, Kate Poole and John and Christine Slazas; and several great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Francis, her parents, one sister Dorothy, one brother Stuart and one nephew, Edward J. Davis.
Visitation will begin with a Catholic Daughters of the Americas Rosary at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 19, at Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church, Superior and continue until the noon, Mass of Christian burial, with the Rev. William Murphy as celebrant.
Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Superior.
Pallbearers for the service will be Rick La Blanc, John Davis, Jim Davis, Albert Heikkila, Jack Davis, Mark Cashin and Dan Cashin.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made in Marjorie's name to Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church, Superior.
Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Ave., Superior is assisting the family with arrangements.
