Charles A. Schweikert, 81, of Superior passed away Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012.
Charles A. Schweikert, 81, of Superior passed away Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, at the Solvay Hospice House, Duluth.
He was born June 28, 1930, in Phillips, Wis., to Elmer and Clara (Schilling) Schweikert and graduated from Phillips High School. Charles was united in marriage to Hazel Hartmann on June 14, 1950, in Phillips. He was employed as a welder for Industrial Welders in Duluth for many years, and was a member of Darrow Road Wesleyan Church.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Wesley and Paul; two sisters, Grace Kutz and Elsie Welch; and one grandson, Jason Schweikert.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Hazel; three sons, Chuck (Mary Jane) Schweikert of Boone, Iowa, Dave (Nancy) Schweikert of Poplar and Scott (Cathy) Schweikert of Superior; one brother, Elmer Schweikert of Phillips, Wis.; one sister, Florence Dolas of Westerville, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, Chuck, Kim, Todd, Les, Ryan, Mathew, Philip, Heather, Lisa and Amy; nine great-grandchildren, Brooke, Madisen, Kaitlyn, Alex, Emily, Jonathan, Tessa, Stetson, Penelope; and several nieces and nephews.
Private family services will be Saturday, Jan. 14 at the Darrow Road Wesleyan Church. The family has selected Nelson Funeral Care of Cloquet to assist them with arrangements. See the family online guest book at www.nelsonfuneralcare.net.
