Marian Banks, 85, passed away peacefully on her 85th birthday, Jan. 8, 2012, at Bayshore Health Center, Duluth.
She was born in Litchfield, Neb., the daughter of Russell and Mabel Else. She moved to Superior as a young girl.
She married Marvin Banks on March 21, 1959, and together they raised three children.
Marian was a wonderful mother, an excellent cook, a talented seamstress, a fabulous golfer and an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings.
Marian’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, and her cheerful attitude and zest for life was an inspiration to all of us. She will remain forever in our hearts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Banks; her son, Scott Banks; her brother Merrill Else; and her parents.
Marian was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Steve Meierotto of Alaska; her son and daughter-in-law, Rustin and Janet LeFaive-Banks of Duluth; five granddaughters, Emily (Tim) McHugh of Minneapolis; Sarah and Kelly Meierotto of Alaska; Jeannyne Banks of South Range and Lisa LeFaive of Duluth; one grandson, Russell Banks of Superior; two great-grandchildren, John McHugh and Karoline Banks; nephew and niece, Randy and Debbie Else; and many wonderful in-laws, extended family and friends.
We would like to express a special thank you to the staff of the Morning Light Unit at Bayshore Health Center for the wonderful care and compassion they showed to Marian. It meant the world to us.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service Friday, Jan. 20 in Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, Superior.
Pastor Richard Blood of the Presbyterian Pioneer Parish will officiate.
