On Dec. 28, 2011, word was received of the death of Richard Henry Germond, 81, formerly of Superior.
He was born in Superior in July 1931 to Garth I. and Aline Germond.
He is survived by his spouse, Adrienne, three sons, Richard (Margaret), Joel (Peolina), Jeff (Kim), daughter Lexi (Jim) and eight grandchildren, all of California; and two brothers, Joel of Naples, Fla. and Bill of Superior.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son James and brothers Garth and Robert.
He graduated from Superior Central High School, attended Superior State University and graduated from Arizona State University. He worked for General Atomics in San Diego for many years and retired to Bakersfield, Calif. He was a member of the Marine Corps Reserve, Co. B, First Battalion, First Division, which was activated in the Korean War and fought at the Chosen Reservoir, where he received two Purple Hearts.
He is sadly missed by friends and family.
