Julie Ann Lucas, 49, of Solon Springs passed away Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011.

Julie Ann Lucas, 49, of Solon Springs passed away Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at her home surrounded by her family.

Julie was born Aug. 7, 1962, in Des Moines, Iowa to the late Kay and Mary (Voshell) Markow.

Julie married William Lucas on Dec. 21, 1979; they enjoyed 31 years of marriage together.

Julie graduated from Grand Rapids High School; she went on to college in Minnesota and received her nursing degree in 1986. She was a nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth for 20 years. Julie loved playing bingo with her sisters. Her happiest moments were shared when she was with her grandchildren. She loved her cat “Puma.”

Among those who survive and gratefully shared her life are her husband, William “Bill” Lucas of Solon Springs; her children, Joshua (Tami) Lucas, Karen DeFoe (Daniel Dutcher); her grandchildren, Michael, Tyler, Justin, Olivia, Andrew, Madelyn, Kyleigh-Anne, Kayden, Kurt Jr.; mother-in-law, Helen Dorsett; and her sisters, Kelly Markow, Robin (John) Hanley, Janice (Tim) Jensen.

She is preceded in death by one daughter, Kari Colombe; one brother, Dean Markow; one sister, Linda Slama; niece and nephew, Christopher and Sarah Slama; one sister-in-law, Maureen Pollack.

A celebration of life will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21 at the Northwoods Community Church in Solon Springs, Wis. Pastor John Malone will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Spring burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Solon Springs.

Bill, Bucky & I are so very sorry to hear about Julie. We will miss her at Circle Pines. and her cheery voice at Dr. Van Etta's office. We are in Texas for the winter & will be unable to attend her services. You are in our thoughts. Bucky & Liz Podgorak
