Athlee Ione Lindberg, 81, of Lake Nebagamon passed away Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011.

Athlee Ione Lindberg, 81, of Lake Nebagamon passed away Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011, at Lake Nebagamon Country Companions surrounded by her family.

Athlee was born June 15, 1930, in Cumberland, Wis., to the late Carl and Violetta (Lundstrom) Markgren.

She married George Lindberg on March 28, 1952, in Cumberland. He preceded her in death May 12, 2000.

Those who knew her and loved her will remember her for her sweetness.

Among those who survive and gratefully shared her life are her children: Susan (Henry) Peters of Superior, Carol (Dan) Conrad of Lake Nebagamon, Kristine (Dan) Esselstrom of Lakeside, Jonathan (Beth) Lindberg of Lake Nebagamon; nine grandchildren, Joshua (Jaime) Peters, Erica Bowman, Lindsey (Matthew) Johnson, Johanna Conrad, Daniel Esselstrom, Jordan Lindberg, Nicolette Lindberg, Andrew Esselstrom, Carl Conrad; six great-grandchildren, Dean, Dylan, Violet Bowman, Zachary, Eleanor Peters, Gage Johnson; two brothers, John (Shirley) Markgren, George (Anette) Markgren; two sisters, Marian Erickson, Grace (Sig) Jacobson; three sister in-laws; Judy Markgren, Dorothy Elowson and Shirley Lindberg, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by one grandson-in-law, Michael Bowman; two brothers, Earl and Paul Markgren; one sister-in-law, Sharon Markgren, one brother-in-law, Reynold Erickson.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at the Lakeside Baptist Church, Lakeside. Pastor Tom Lindberg will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will take place in the spring. Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
