Rosalie A. Gabrys of St. Ann’s residence in Duluth and a former longtime resident of Superior died Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, at a Duluth hospital.
Rosalie was born in Bismarck, N.D., grew up in Fergus Falls, Minn., and moved to Superior as a young woman. She married John Gabrys in 1943. Rosalie worked as a nurse at old St. Mary’s Hospital, Superior Memorial Hospital and St. Francis Nursing Home. During her retirement, Rosalie volunteered as a foster grandmother, at the Courage Center and at Cathedral of Christ the King.
Rosalie was preceded in death by John, her husband of 54 years.
Survivors include sons Tom of Spooner and Greg (Mary) of Clear Lake, S.D.; daughters Carol Madden (Richard) of Superior and Mary Gabrys of Duluth; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A private funeral is planned. If friends so desire, the family prefers memorials to St. Ann’s Residence.
