Robert A. Gronski, loving husband and father, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2011.

Robert A. Gronski, loving husband and father, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at his home.

He was born August 2, 1937, in Superior, the son of Anthony and Sophie (Kulas) Gronski.

He served his country in the United States Air Force.

Robert was employed as a special agent with the Burlington Northern Railroad for 23 years, retiring in 1991.

He married MaryAnn Bozinski on Aug. 7, 1965, in Superior, and celebrated 45 years of marriage.

Robert was a member of St. William’s Catholic Church. He was a past member of the Town of Superior Volunteer Fire Department and past town of Superior constable.

He loved bowling, working in his garden, hunting, fishing at their cabin in Solon Springs, working on his son’s farm and watching NASCAR. He was a loving caring father and loved being around his children and grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, children and grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his father, Anthony and father and mother-in-law, Edward and Mary Bozinski.

Robert is survived by his wife, MaryAnn; two daughters, Kathrine (Douglas) Hubbard, Chippewa Falls, Wis., and Sharon (Kevin) Lohman, South Range; one son, Robert Gronski Jr., Foxboro; four grandchildren, Kristy, Stacy, Lexie and Carlie; three step-grandchildren, Michael and Katie Hubbard and Kendra Lohman; mother, Sophie Gronski, Duluth; two sisters, Mary Ann Wendlick, Milwaukee, and Linda (John) Bradley, Duluth; one brother, Gerald Gronski, Superior; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 13 in Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Ave., Superior, with a scripture service at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 14 in St. William’s Catholic Church and continue until the 11 a.m. memorial Mass with the Revs. Ronald Olson and Kevin Gordon as concelebrants.

Inurnment will be in St. William’s Cemetery.

As I think about it, I have mistaken Bob for a former classmate of mine with a somewhat similar name. I regret the error but wish to express my condolences to Bob's family. Mary Murdoch

Bob was a good friend to all of his fellow graduates from the Class of '57. He was kind, loyal, humorous and a bit sardonic. We always enjoyed reuniting with him at our reunions. Back in high school, he kept Dorothy Walton and me laughing at our table in study hall. We didn't get much studying done, but after all, we were seniors and thought we knew it all, anyway. We shall miss our old pal. Our thoughts are with his family. Mary Cadigan Murdoch
