Kathy “Kat” Hellenbrand of Lake Delton, Wis., passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo at the age of 57.

Kathy “Kat” Hellenbrand of Lake Delton, Wis., passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo, Wis., at age 57.

She was born in Chicago, Ill., on July 25, 1953, the daughter of Walter and Gwendolyn (Burdick) Smith. On Jan. 19, 2000, Kat was united in marriage to Ted W. Hellenbrand in Wisconsin Dells.

Kat had a great work ethic and was always promoted to managerial positions at every place of employment, including the Hole in the Wall Casino in Danbury and Ho-Chunk Casino in Baraboo. She had a passion for arts and crafts, including ceramics and thoroughly enjoyed collecting fairies.

She is survived by her husband, Ted W. Hellenbrand of Lake Delton; two daughters, Jessica (Jamie) Kotter of Superior and Tessa (Jason) Towle of Bloomington, Wis.; six grandchildren, Destini Towle of Bloomington, Alesha Kotter of Superior, Shanya Miner of Superior, Mickey Johnson, Shantel McGinnis and Nikita McGinnis, all of Bloomington; her mother, Gwen Smith of South Range, Wis.; her brother, David W. Smith, also of South Range; her sister, Penny Smith of Norway; two stepsons, Seth and Diedrik Hellenbrand, both of Lake Delton; other relatives and many friends.

Kat was preceded in death by her father, Walter Smith, Jr. and two brothers, Howard and Mickey Smith.

Visitation is noon until the 1 p.m. memorial service Thursday, Sept. 9 at the Redlin Funeral Home, 401 Madison Ave., Baraboo, with Chaplain Karen Schilling officiating.

Gwen sorry to hear about Kathy. I was so surprised to see the obituary. We (my brother, Terry) think about all of you at times. I think about Penny alot and wonder how she is doing? Our sympathy goes out to you all. Debbie (Saline) Falk
