Bruce Alan Olsen passed away on Friday Aug. 27, 2010, in Brule.

Bruce was born Aug. 17, 1967, in Duluth. He graduated from Duluth East High School in 1986. Bruce married Patti Kristensen in Kauai, Hawaii, on Sept 11, 1999.

Bruce worked a variety of jobs throughout his life with his last being at Genesis Equipment as a machine assembler. Bruce took pride in his work at Genesis and the many sheetrock or odd side jobs he could help people with. He had many special qualities and was a very hard worker. He was a proud man who could do anything when putting his mind to it.

Bruce was a very caring and giving person who found much comfort and pleasure in helping others. He also enjoyed the simple enjoyments in life such as spending time at the lake, fishing, four wheeling, tinkering on projects, and snowmobiling, especially when in the company of his two young boys.

Bruce was preceded in death by a brother Kerry W. Olsen, both his paternal and maternal grandparents and his father-in-law Roger W. Kristensen.

He is survived by his wife Patti Olsen; sons Jordan (10) and Nathan (8); mother Kathleen (Gary) Thompson; father Lyle Olsen; siblings Cindy (Steve) Gressman; brothers Keith and Craig, nephews Josh and David; nieces Brittany, Jessica, Morgan, Anja, Elizabeth, Augusta, Becca, Anna, Cindy; a special uncle Curtis Olsen; mother-in-law Rita Kristensen; brother-in-law Lawrence (Lynanne) Kristensen, sister-in-law Sandy (Randy) Grumdahl; stepsister, Nicole (Chris) Wood; and numerous aunts, uncles, family and friends.

Visitation will be at noon followed by the 1 p.m. service Friday, Sept. 3 at Mission Covenant Church, 5161 S. County Road P, Poplar.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations for Jordan and Nathan’s education fund at Wells Fargo Bank, Denfeld Office, Bruce Olsen Benefit Memorial Fund, 3931 W. Superior Street, Duluth, MN 55807.
