He was preceded in death by his parents, Hjalmar and Hilda, wife Miriam, daughter Linda and son Jeff, brother Roy, sisters Edna and Dorothy.
Edgar was survived by wife Lois; daughters Debra and Donna (Roger) Hegdahl; step-daughters Nancy and Pat Long; step-son Michael (Patty) Long; grandsons Kyle, Chris, Greg and Warren; sister Ellen Hegdahl; and many nieces and nephews.
Edgar graduated from the former East High School and attended Superior State Teachers College. He served in WWII as an OCS commissioned officer at Omaha Beach during the Normandy invasion to free Europe. Edgar was a graduate of University and Bethel Seminary. He served as pastor of Baptist General Conference churches in Iron River, Wis., Anaconda, Mont., Albequerque, N.M., Montrose, S.D., Grand Rapids and Bemidji, Minn. Later he served as interim pastor in Phoenix and Tucson, Ariz.
Services were held in St. Paul, Minn. with burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
