Arnold R Clark Sr., age 88, of Barksdale, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Ashland Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Arnold R Clark Sr., age 88, of Barksdale, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Ashland Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Aug. 8, 1921, in Ashland, the son of Arthur and Elvera (Lindquist) Clark.
He served in the CC Camps, in Delta. From 1942 to 1945, he was a member of the US Army Air Corps, serving in England and France. Following the service, he spent time in Greenland. He later was in the US National Guard, for many years. On Sept. 28, 1946, he married Evelyn “Honey” Johnson, in Bessemer, Mich. Arnold worked for Splicewood, in Ashland, for several years and then from 1951 until his retirement in 1983, Arnold worked for the city of Ashland. He was a member of the Eagles and the VFW. He enjoyed playing cards, baseball, croquet and mowing his lawn.
He is survived by his four children, Philip (Sandy) Clark, Ashland, Darlene (John) Traaholt, Barksdale, Arnie (Debbie) Clark Jr., Ashland and Lorie (Gary) Duzell, Superior; 11 grandchildren, Michael, Michelle (Mya), Erica, John, Jeremy (Sarah), Branden (Jessica), Brian (Joelle), Joshua, Danielle, Jacob and Joey; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Clifford Clark, Milwaukee; two sisters, Blanche (Bill) Larson, Stevens Pointe and Virginia Maresic, Calif.; his Wednesday night card partners, Sig and Shirley Eid, Barksdale; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn “Honey”; a son, Mark; four brothers, Harold, Bud, Arthur and Howard Clark; and two sisters, Isabelle Amann and Lorraine Wilhelm.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, in Ashland, with Pastor Dale Chesley officiating.
Spring interment will take place in Woodland Cemetery, in Washburn.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 12, at Frost Home for Funerals, in Ashland and continue one hour prior to the service, on Saturday, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, in Ashland.
Arrangements are by Frost Home for Funerals, in Ashland.
