Paul J. Heaslip, 75, of Superior, and formerly of Esko, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010.
Paul J. Heaslip, 75, of Superior, and formerly of Esko, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at his residence.
He was born August 22, 1934 in Duluth, son of John and MaryAnn (Pavlas) Heaslip.
On Oct. 14, 1952, he married Helen Curry in Duluth.
Paul was an ironworker and a member of Ironworker’s Local No. 563, Duluth.
He was also a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council No. 1208 (fourth degree), Animal Rescue Federation, Lake Avenue Loafers, Habitat for Humanity and Maranatha Academy volunteer.
Preceding him in death were his parents; daughters, Sue Heaslip and Patty Heaslip; infant sons, Donald and David Heaslip; grandson, Douglas Scouton; sisters, Mary Lou Jordan, Irene Senarighi, Marion Furtman and Betty Peterson; and brothers, Richard, John and Michael Heaslip.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Helen; daughter, Mary Ann (Stuart) Stariha, Superior; sons, Paul Ryan Heaslip, St. Cloud, Minn.m and Tom (Sue) Heaslip, Faribault, Minn.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Florence Jeanette, Janesville, Wis., and Tess O’Leary, Carrol, Iowa; brothers, Patrick (Jan) Heaslip and James (Margaret) Heaslip of Duluth; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5 at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior, and 12:30 until the 1:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial Saturday, Feb. 6 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Superior. The celebrant will be Reverend Father James Tobolski.
Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Carlton, Minn., at a later date.
Pallbearers will be Paul’s nephews, John, Jeff, Bruce, Brian and Kevin Heaslip, and Steve Running.
