Marvin S. “Marv” Johnson

Marvin S. “Marv” Johnson, age 79, of South Range, Wis., passed away Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Superior, Wis. following a brief illness.

Marv was born in Superior on May 25th, 1930. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1951–1953 earning the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, United Nations Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal.

Marv worked as a contract painter for the most part of his life. Marv enjoyed stock car racing, boxing, hunting and dessert.

Survivors include Rodney W. Johnson of Jefferson City, Tenn.; David A. Johnson of Superior; Phillip L. Rasmussen of Zimmerman, Minn.; Sheila J. Rasmussen of Amnicon Lake, Wis.; Julie R. Rasmussen of Kingman, Ariz.; Donna G. Soyring of New Richmond, Wis.; Sue A. Walberg of Lake Nebagamon, Wis.; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and a very special friend, Sally Hugdahl and her family.

He was preceded in death by his wife Conchuita J. “Connie” Johnson in 1996.

Private family services have been held. Burial will be in the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, Wis.

Veterans Funeral Care of Solon Springs, Wis., is assisting the family with arrangements.

I was so saddened to learn that Uncle Marv had passed over...now I'll have to eat all the chocolate cherries myself. Dave, Sheila, Little Sue and Sally...I'm thinking of you and hoping that time truly does heal. With love, Debbie

We are so sorry to hear that Marv has passed away. We had many wonderful times back in the days of stock car racing. He was one special person. Please accept our condolences and don't ever forget all the memories we all have to hold on to. Jerry and Carol Plummer
