Beverly L. Van Overmeiren, 91, Superior, died Wednesday, April 8, 2009, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Hospice Unit, in Duluth.
She was born on Sept. 9, 1917, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada to Martin and Josephine (Spera) Flesvig.
She had been employed as a sales clerk for Cohen’s Apparel in South Superior for many years and she was also employed at Oreck’s in Superior and M&I Bank.
Beverly was a member of Cathedral of Christ the King, Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court 1190, United Commercial Travelers 333; UCT Auxiliary 269, of which she held various offices; members council of UCT and WOW (Widows and Widowers).
She is survived by two sons, Dale (Susan) Van Overmeiren, Richard (Laura) Van Overmeiren; one daughter, Mary Beth Pince and her fiance Jeff Lundberg, all of Superior; nine grandchildren, Richard, Dorinda, Beth, Erik, Melissa, Justin, Amber, Scott, Amy and their spouses; seven great-grandchildren, Connor, MacKenzie, Luke, Zachary, Paden, Robert, Brooklyn and one on the way; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Peter; her parents; a brother, Harley Flesvig and a sister, Marjorie Smith.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Monday, April 13 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home with a CDA Rosary scheduled for 5:30 p.m. that evening.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 14 in Cathedral of Christ the King with Rev. Fr. Daniel Dahlberg as celebrant.
Pallbearers for the service will be Rick Jacobson, Erik Van Overmeiren, Jim Van Overmeiren, Justin Van Overmeiren, Scott Van Overmeiren and Scott Andrews. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and members of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court 1190.
Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.
Beverly’s family would like special thanks to go to St. Luke’s Hospice; Indianhead Health Care; her caregivers, Karen and Maggie; from LSS, Michelle; and a very special thank you to Dr. Krisa Christian.
She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
