Ronald James Karlon, 69, of Iron River died Tuesday, March 17, 2009, in his residence.
Ron was born Jan. 26, 1940, in Superior and was a lifelong area resident.
He had been employed as a machinist for Barko Hydraulics.
Ron served with United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Iron River, a life member of the Boilermakers Union, a former past president of the Brule River Sportsman Club, the Northwoods Wood Carvers of Iron River and the Long Lake Association.
He is survived by a daughter, Ann Gordon of Barnes; two sons, Peter Karlon of Duluth and Andrew Karlon of Minneapolis; three grand children; his fiance, Nancy Anderson of Iron River; a brother, Richard (Barbara) Karlon of Superior; and a sister, Linda (Mark) Hudacek of Superior.
Preceding him in death were his wife, the former Carolyn A. Fair on April 17, 1997; a son, Ronald; and his parents, Mildred B. (Johnson) and Andrew T. Karlon.
His funeral will be held at noon on Saturday, March 21, in Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Iron River, with Rev. Kristina Jensen officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the noon service.
Pallbearers will be Ken Welty, Kurt Janko, John Letizia, Tom Alvar, John Halter, Dave Luzar, Richard Karlon and Byran Hudacek.
Downs Funeral Home, corner of Ogden Avenue and 19th Street, Superior is assisting the family with arrangements.
