Nine-year-old Jack Matuzak of Duluth, right, looks at a local fossil with his mother, Samantha, during National Fossil Day activities Wednesday at the Duluth Children’s Museum. The fossil was found by Pat Bartell and Connor Larson-Pearce of Superior. The fossil-hunting duo showed a number of their local finds at the event, offered dinosaur prizes and encouraged kids to draw their own artistic renderings of the extinct critters. (Maria Lockwood)
