Forgetting a life jacket can be a fatal mistake. “Drowning is the No. 1 cause of boating-related fatalities,” said Chuck Horn with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. “Last year, 23 people died in Wisconsin as a result of a boating accident and of those, 17 showed drowning as a primary or contributing factor.
