And Bob W. the reason most in Law Enfocement are against the execution of sex offenders (child molesters) is because more childern would be killed by offenders if they knew that killing them would give them no more punishment then sexually assaulting them. And if you look at the numbers so many sexual assaults are committed by a person in the family. If the death sentance were given less family members would report the crime. Why because they would not want to see a family member get the death sentance and if they did report the crime, just think of the guilt the victim child would be put though, because they reported the crime.

As a retired Police Officer and one who worked with sex offender laws and sex offenders let me put in my thoughts. First of all the word sex offender is not used right. The word includes everyone who has been convicted of any sex crime including in some states childern as young a (9) nine years old. It includes many criminals who have committed many different crimes. Now using that same word; sex offenders have one of the lowest recidivism rates amoung most criminals, that is what the US Dept Of Justice says. 3.5% are reconvicted within 3 years of release from prison for a new sexual assault. 95% of those arrested for sexual assult have NO prior arrest record. 90% of those who are sexually assaulted know the accused very well with over 50% of them being a family member. And NO study todate showes that residency laws protect anyone. In fact as the artical said they are realy putting the public at a greater danger. Laws that do not protect anyone should not be laws.

I agree These persons should be sent to were they were convicted. Some state wide guide lines should exist with in put from locale communite, Currently I think state is doing a poor job.

If Wisconsin doesn't want to execute sex offenders or confine them or supervise them for life then they must allow them to live in the community from which they were sentenced unless the offender poses any further risk to his or her previous victims.
