I am not completely familiar with the rules set forth for the SAGE program but based on the 15:1 ratio claimed in this article I would say that has not been followed. My daughter was in 4th Grade in Great Lakes last year and was in a class of 27. She is in roughly the same size class this year at Great Lakes. So before we compare Great Lakes performance versus Four Corners you should make sure the program is being followed.

I think the board and school leaders should look at this from a different angle. Although maybe the learning has not increased, the program has kept up the standard. Without the SAGE program, there is a good chance that the learning that is supposed to be happening won't with the extra students in the class. More distractions from other kids leaving less time for the teacher to teach. Keep the program and add the three teachers, it really can't amount to that much for each tax paying citizen. And besides, it,s worth it, these are our children we are talking about!!
