Ray A. Miller, 85, of Hawthorne, died Monday, Oct. 21, 2013 in the Middle River Health and Rehab. Center.
He was born Sept. 24, 1928 in Superior to Annabelle (Meyer) and Clarence Miller and remained a lifelong area resident. He served his country during World War II in the U. S. Navy.
For 35 years he was employed as a painter for Stromquist & Sons and also the Painters Union Local No. 106. He was a member of the Brule River Sportsmen's Association.
Ray is survived by his wife of 60 years, the former Arlis Doolittle; three sons, Ray Jr., Gene and Alvin all of Hawthorne; grandchildren, Stephanie Rasmussen, Angela Skylondz and Arlee, Sarah, Ryan and Harley Miller; many great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bud Miller of Lake Nebagamon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.
A celebration of his life will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27 at the Road House, 9050 E. County Road B.
