A Black River Falls man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon near Hudson. The crash occurred at about 4 p.m. on old State Highway 35 at the intersection of Tower Rd in St. Croix County, according to a release from the Wisconsin State Patrol. A minivan traveling northbound on Highway 35 collided with a car traveling westbound on Tower Road. The car, driven by Scott Shoemaker, 38, of Black River Falls, failed to stop at the stop sign on Tower Road and traveled into the path of the minivan, being driven by Jason Edwards, 42, of Hudson. The minivan crashed into the driver’s side of Shoemaker’s car. He died at the scene from injuries he sustained in the crash. Shoemaker’s three children, ages 12, 14 and 16, were passengers in the car and they sustained serious injuries. They were transported by ambulance to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minn. Edwards was also injured during the crash. He was taken by ambulance to Hudson Hospital where he was treated and released. All vehicle occupants were wearing seatbelts. The crash remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
