OCONTO, Wis. (AP) — An Oconto County jury has convicted a man accused of killing a woman with whom he was having an affair and her brother.
The jury found 30-year-old Daniel Schmidt guilty Thursday night of killing 36-year-old Kimberly Rose and her 26-year-old brother, Leonard Marsh. They were fatally shot May 19, 2009 at Rose's home southwest of Gillett.
Prosecutors argued Schmidt had two motives to kill Rose. One was to keep her from disclosing that he was growing marijuana in his garage and another was to keep Rose from disrupting his marriage. Marsh had been staying with his sister at the time they were killed.
Schmidt had pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree intentional homicide.
WLUK-TV Schmidt will be sentenced Nov. 26.
