LETTER: Don’t give in to Tea Party terroristsThere’s a reason that our country doesn’t negotiate with terrorists — because once you give in to their demands, they become even more emboldened. That same philosophy holds true for our own new domestic terrorists, the Tea Party.
There’s a reason that our country doesn’t negotiate with terrorists — because once you give in to their demands, they become even more emboldened. That same philosophy holds true for our own new domestic terrorists, the Tea Party.
This bunch of radicals shut down our government down because the president didn’t give in to their demands. They say they want to repeal the Affordable Care Act or at the very least delay its implementation, but their anger goes much deeper than that, at least I think so and I don’t believe I’m alone on that score.
What they’d really like to do is overturn the results of the 2012 election. They’re fighting mad that bunch, in spite of all the gerrymandering and all the restrictive voter registration laws they tried to pass they lost badly, in the House, Senate and presidency — by almost 5 million votes.
They fought hard saying their main job was to repeal Obamacare and make this president a one termer.
The people spoke and spoke loudly. They re-elected the president, and in doing so, they told the nation we do need health care for all.
OK, I get it. They’re mad. Then maybe they should have been trying to give the people what they want instead of trying to repeal what is now the law of the land.
Now they want to hold hostage the entire nation to get what they couldn’t legitimately. So do we give into their demands?
That’s not a good idea from where I stand. What would they demand next —repeal Social Security or Medicare?
Once you give in to terrorists, they just want more. That’s the way it works.
So Mr. President, don’t give in. The country is behind you.
