Library holds video contest to celebrate its 125th anniversary

We think you ought to be in pictures, and here’s your chance. Enter the library’s 125th anniversary video contest. Help us celebrate our quasquicentennial. Produce a 30-second to 10-minute video that highlights why the Superior Public Library is important to you. Prizes are awarded for first, second and third place entries, and staff favorite. Submissions are accepted through Feb. 28. We’ll even have a film festival of the entries next spring. The Friends of the Superior Public Library sponsor the prizes. The fourth annual Library Trick-or-Treat program is back and takes place on Halloween Day. This year’s theme is Peter Pan. Stop by the library 10 a.m. to noon r 2-4 p.m. Oct. 31 to receive candy from all of the beloved J.M. Barrie characters. This family event is free and open to all. We just ask that you bring a nonperishable food item for the local food shelf.
The Clef Society hosts a Scholarship Concert at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 15 in the chandelier area of the library. Enjoy music from one of the society’s talented UWS scholarship winners. The concert is free, and the Clef Society and Friends of the Library serve refreshments.

Gloria Eslinger is our Artist of the Month for October. Her current work expresses her fascination with time through clocks, seasons and directions of the hands in compass form. Her creations in glass, sculpture and mosaic are displayed in the lobby art window to your right as you enter the library.
