SHS, NHS golf teams, Tigers volleyball team in action
On Monday, the Superior High School girls golf team hosted Cumberland and Luck-Unity at Nemadji Golf Course. The teams competed on the North nine.
The Spartan picked up two points in the Heart O’ North Conference with a team score of 217. Cumberland finished with a 226, and Luck-Unity did not have enough players to register a team score.
Samantha Aune led SHS with a 47. Amanda Hinaus shot a 55, Allie Shober, 56, and Hailey Gronquist, 59.
The Northwestern High School girls golf team finished the week 3-1 in conference play.
On Monday, the Tigers were in Chetek and posted a team score of 212 to gain a win over and a loss to Hayward (186).
Molly Lattery shot a 48 to lead the Tigers. Macy Meteraud and Lyndi Graff both carded a 53, and Marissa Delvas shot a 58.
On Tuesday, the Tigers picked up a pair of Heart O’ North Conference victories. Their score of 207 put them ahead of Barron and Cumberland.
Graff shot a 50 to lead NHS, followed by Lattery with a 51. Marissa Delvas shot a 52, and Paige Orlowski shot a 54.
Northwestern’s conference record stands at 11-3 heading into next week’s conference finale. Cumberland will host the HON conference tournament at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
TIGER TALES: Freshman Jennifer Thul had her best round of the year at Chetek on Monday with a 62.
Northwestern School fell to 0-2 in the HON Conference with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-15) loss Tuesday at Bloomer.
The Tigers were led by Beccah Wester, six kills and six digs; Erin Gotelaere, four kills and 21 digs; Cheyenne Johnson, five kills and two digs; Lexi Janigo, three kills and 23 digs; Daisy Mack, eight assists and seven digs; and Kaitlin Maroney, 15 digs.
Northwestern hosts Barron at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
