Have you been thinking about an e-reader? The Superior Public Library now has seven e-readers available for check out. The library purchased the three Nook and three Kindle e-readers, as well as an iPad, with funds from a Gates Foundation grant and funds from an anonymous donor. Each reader is pre-loaded with 60 different titles, ranging from classics to children’s books to popular best sellers. Five of the e-readers have wireless capabilities.
E-readers are a great choice for many situations. Anyone with a visional impairment will appreciate the increased font size available on an e-reader. They are especially practical if you like to read more than one book at a time or are travelling.
“The availability of e-readers at the library is all about giving our patrons options,” said library director Sue Heskin. “Now people can choose from a variety of formats—digital, audio, and traditional print—to best suit their needs.”
Each of the e-readers can be checked out for three weeks.
