LETTER: City officials shouldn’t bully business owners
It upset me to see the way the city, mayor and police department said the city won’t let Jim Carlson do business here.
Mayor Bruce Hagen, it’s not up to you. You have no right saying if a person rents to him, you’re going to hit them with all you have. Who are you to say that? Not everyone may feel the same as you and the rest of the mucky mucks in City Hall.
Mayor, I feel you are weak and it makes the rest of us look bad. You should recant what you said about Carlson. It is not his fault people are not smart enough to refrain from smoking the stuff he is selling. You’re saying if I buy something I know can harm me, it’s the store’s fault for selling it to me.
Let’s think outside the box for a minute at this so-called problem. Carlson isn’t pushing this on people. People are going to him to get it.
Maybe we should close all the bars in Superior because your city is nothing but drunks all up and down Tower Avenue.
On 18th Street, its nothing but drugs. You say call the police. Well we did that, and they did nothing.
Leave Carlson alone. What did he do to you, bully?
I did not say I would not rent to Carlson, so speak for yourself. The mucky mucks in city hall should leave people to decide for themselves who to let in the city. It’s not your call. Remember, it’s government by the people, for the people — we the people.
Stop with the harassment of Carlson. You are not in Duluth; this is Superior.
Be a bigger person and stop bullying Carlson. That goes for all city employees. Stop bullying people, just stop.
