The Superior High School volleyball team finished in first place at Saturday’s Marshfield Tournament.
The Spartans went 3-1 during round-robin play, losing to Medford, defeating Rhinelander, Marshfield and Altoona before beating Wauwatosa in the title match.
In a 2-1 (25-16, 13-25, 15-8) loss to Medford, Nicole Sorensen had three ace serves and five set assists; Jessica Lindstrom had two kills and eight digs: and Miranda Flynn had six digs.
In a 25-17, 22-25, 15-10 win over Rhinelander, Lindstrom had eight kills; Sorensen had 12 set assists and four ace serves; and Ellen Stromgren came up with five kills.
In Superior’s 25-13, 18-25, 15-12 win over Marshfield, Lindstrom had 10 kills and Sorensen had 12 set assists.
Superior swept Altoona 27-25, 25-22 behind Lindstrom’s six kills, six digs and seven blocks and 100 percent serving by Sorensen and Lily Kline.
Superior wrapped up the day with a 25-16, 25-23 win over Wauwatosa. Leading the way were Sorensen, 11 set assists; Lindstrom, eight kills and six blocks; and Rachal Fregin, 100 percent serving.
The Spartans are at Marshall today and Denfeld Thursday. Both matches begin at 7 p.m.
