This year’s Engwalls Corn Maze features one of the largest displays of scarecrows in the upper tri state area.
Individuals, groups and organizations are encouraged to join in the fun by creating their own Scarecrow for the maze.
“We wanted to add a new dimension to the maze to continue making this an incredible fall experience,” said Tracy Lundeen, Corn Maze partner. “Having a contest and featuring the creativity of people throughout the region will make it even better.”
Scarecrows should be a minimum of three feet tall to a maximum of six feet and there will be prizes for entering (four free corn maze tickets for each scarecrow submitted). A “People’s Choice Award” and a “Best of Show Grand Prize” will be chosen and cash prizes will be offered.
In addition to the contest, the Engwalls Corn Maze offers a “Scarecrow Workshop” 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday. There will be experienced scarecrow makers on hand to help create and make scarecrows. The workshop is free to attend, just bring clothes and your imagination. Engwalls will have some supplies available to purchase if needed.
All scarecrows must be delivered to Engwalls Garden Center no later than Aug. 30 to be included in the “Best of Show Grand Prize” competition.
