It’s that time of year again: 4-H and open class entries arrive between noon and 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and open for evening viewing.
Judging of the 4-H projects begins at 9 a.m. Wednesday and continues throughout the week. The Beef, Swine and Sheep show begins at 9:30 a.m. in the Livestock Pavilion. Cultural Arts are judged throughout the day.
To start Thursday, poultry and rabbits will be judged at 9 a.m. The gaming Horse Show begins at 10 a.m.. Come and vote for your favorite bird — the exhibitor with the most votes gets a fabulous prize. Also, baby geese will be on display. 4-H judging continues with clothing, knitting and crocheting, and communications.
The Beef Association Livestock Auction begins at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Livestock Pavilion. Come and see the 4-H/FFA youth present their yearlong accomplishments.
Friday at 8:30 a.m. come and view the 4-H Horse Pleasure Show. 4-H demonstrations will take place at 4:30.
On Friday, the Farm Zoo will be open from 1-6 pm in the Livestock Pavilion. This is an opportunity for kids of all ages to learn more about the animals, take a tour, do some hands-on activities and crafts, and maybe a calf or two will come in and say “hello.” Farm Zoo is an event brought to the fair by the Douglas County 4-H, the Beef Association, Head of the Lakes Fair and Farmer’s Union. It is open to all. The Farm Zoo continues 1-6 p.m. Saturday.
On Saturday morning, the 4-H and open class Horse Cart Show begins. The Dairy Show begins at 9:30 a.m. in the Livestock Pavilion with dairy cattle and dairy goats judged.
All exhibits are on display noon to 10 p.m. Tuesday; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
The 4-H Dairy Bar is open for business 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
