A pedestrian was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital with non-threatening head and leg injuries after being struck by a pick-up truck along Belknap Street Monday morning. A pick-up truck driven by a 70-year-old Duluth man had made a left turn from northbound Tower Avenue westbound onto Belknap Street, according to information from Deputy Chief Matt Markon with the Superior Police Department.
The driver told officers he was looking to his right, checking his blind spot, in order to change lanes when he struck the pedestrian, a 59-year-old Duluth man, who was walking south across Belknap Street mid-block. The pedestrian was 34 feet away from the cross walk after the crash. He will be issued a citation for crossing the street mid-block.
