Hey kids, there’s still time to participate in the library’s Summer Reading Program. The program continues through Aug. 30 when all reading logs from our Dig into Reading and Beneath the Surface programs are due.
Come “Make Dirt and Eat It Too” 2-3 p.m. Thursday in the library’s Classroom. Amy Stangland will help us create a whimsical dessert using chocolate pudding, Oreos and gummy worms. Eat alone or share with a friend. Then enjoy your snack while listening to a story.
A frog craft is our Children’s Craft of the Month for August. Supplies and directions are available from the children’s librarian any time during the month of August.
The Read to a Dog program continues on Friday, Aug. 9 and Friday, Aug. 23. Meet, greet and read your favorite book to Tanzy the Shetland sheep dog. Tanzy is a certified therapy dog and doesn’t mind if you make mistakes because he loves to listen.
The Downbeats will be back at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 15 in the library’s Chandelier Area. This easy-listening vocal group from Duluth will perform an evening of traveling songs for your listening enjoyment. Refreshments provided by our own Friends of the Library.
The Friends of the Library meet at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 19 in the Library’s Classroom. The Friends are a fun group of people involved in all sorts of activities that support the Superior Public Library. Membership forms are available at the library. Join today.
Martye Allen and David Mason are our August Artists of the Month. Martye makes porcelain and stoneware pots and creates earthenware sculptures. David Mason builds hardwood furniture of his own design reflecting influences from nature. Combined, these two artists have been making beautiful things for over 80 years. Stop by and see their work in the art window in the library’s lobby.
