Oliver: The El Dorado Bar and Grill, 2110 E. Union St., hosts a benefit for homeless Veterans, and the Veterans Memorial in Gary New Duluth. The event begins at 11 a.m. with a horseshoe tournament. Other events include a dunk tank with local personalities, a meat raffle, a pig roast with all the fixings at 4 p.m., and other raffles throughout the day. All proceeds benefit homeless Veterans and the Gary New Duluth Veterans Memorial.
Superior: Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and settle in noon to 8 p.m. on Barker’s Island for the 8th annual Lakefest. The free event offers local bands all day with featured local talent “HALO.” There will be prizes, free games for kids and giveaways of school supplies, backpacks, food items, infant through toddler clothing, hygiene items, diapers and more. Food vendors will be on site and drawings for gas and grocery gift cards are held.
