Elizabeth G. "Baba" Dodge, 83, lifelong resident of Superior, died Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Middle River Health and Rehab surrounded by family and friends.
Elizabeth was born in Duluth on June 13, 1930 the daughter of Harry and Marie Dingwall.
She was a 1948 graduate of Cathedral High School. She worked as a medical secretary before embarking on her career in child care. She first worked as a volunteer at Bambi Head Start then as a provider at Children of America Day Care and finally for many years at Children's Corner.
Baba was a lifelong member of St. Francis Xavier Church where she was active in the auxiliary. She loved spending time with her family and friends at Lake Nebagamon. She loved reading, walking, crazy hats, sun bathing, and Jazz music. She also enjoyed baking, especially pumpkin bars and million dollar fudge. She was an avid and passionate Vikings fan and was a collector of all things Viking.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a niece Kathleen Murphy and former husband, Harry Dodge.
Baba is survived by her sons, David (Cindy) Dodge of Superior and Daniel Dodge of Superior; daughter Diane Dodge of Branford, Conn.; a grandson, Brandon Dodge; a granddaughter, Samantha Dodge; step-grandchildren, Nick and Chad Zakowitz; several nieces and nephews and many close friends.
Visitation will begin one hour prior to the 11 a.m. Memorial Mass on Fri. July 26, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Middle River for the wonderful care of their mother.
