Margaret Ann Sanborn, 81, passed away July 17, 2013, in Carson City, Nev. Margaret was born March 23, 1932, in Superior, Wis. to Theodore and Margaret Gunderson.
Margaret graduated from Superior Cathedral High School. She worked as a secretary for Paul E. Holden Insurance Co., National Bank of Commerce and Superior Ledgerwood Mundy before leaving Superior to accompany her husband, Walter when he went into the Air Force on active duty in 1955.
Margaret had been a resident of Carson City since 1986. Prior to that she resided in Incline Village, Nev. for nine years and Anaheim, Calif. for 11 years. She served as a volunteer in the F.I.S.H. dining room for seven years and with her late husband, as a prison ministry volunteer for over 16 years in the Carson City prison system. She and her husband received the Northern Region Volunteer of the Year award from the State of Nevada Department of Prisons for 1991.
Margaret sang with the music group at St. Teresa of Avila's 10:30 Sunday Mass for 15 years. She also enjoyed reading, swimming, needlework and being a grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter who passed away Nov. 9, 2000.
Margaret is survived by five children, Scott W. Sanborn, Mark A. Sanborn, Bruce E. Sanborn, Valerie A. Gomez and Eric R. Sanborn; one brother, Robert Gunderson.
Funeral services will be held at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Carson City, Nev. on Saturday, Aug. 3 at 10:30 a.m.
Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of final arrangements.
