The Superior Police Department is investigating a string of commercial burglaries and attempted burglaries at ICO convenience stores in the city.
Police are seeking the public’s help to gather information about the burglaries, which took place at the stores at 2704 N. 21st St. in Billings Park and 5926 Tower Ave. in South Superior.
ICO Corporation is offering $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the those involved.
Over the past two weeks the Superior Police Department has responded to four (4) burglary alarm calls at the two stores. The first incident was during the early morning hours of July 3 at the Billings Park store, where a large quantity of cigarettes was taken.
The second incident took place two days later at the South Superior store, again during the early morning hours; cigarettes were again taken. Then on July 9 and July 13 squads responded to the Billings Park location only to find a smashed glass front door to the business but determined no entry was made.
The total loss to date is about $2,500 worth of cigarettes and more than $5,500 in damage, according to a news release issued by Investigations Sgt. Rick Hughes.
“The Superior Police Department has had a great working relationship with the ICO Corporation and recognizes the many different donations, sponsorships and other community involvement they have been a part of over the years,” Hughes stated. “The department is disappointed when any business or residence becomes a victim of such crimes and we are seeking the public’s assistance in catching the parties involved in these incidents.
