A Superior man who groped two women along the Osaugie Trail in April 2012 will spend six months in jail after failing to meet conditions of probation.
John Frank Young, 28, pleaded guilty in Douglas County Circuit Court in October to one count of fourth-degree sexual assault stemming from the incidents.
A second count was dismissed.
Young was sentenced to one year of probation. He was also ordered to have no contact with the women who reported being groped or the Osaugie Trail.
Young’s probation was revoked in May because he failed to follow the conditions of his probation. According to court records, he was unsuccessfully discharged from sex offender treatment, was observed on the Osaugie Trail, ingested synthetics and drank alcohol.
On June 20, he was sentenced to six months in jail.
According to the criminal complaint:
Young biked up behind two female joggers while they were running on the Osaugie Trail and grabbed their buttocks on April 6, 2012. In both instances, Young passed the victim from behind on a black BMX-style bike and rode off after groping them. Both women reported to police that they were wearing headphones while jogging and didn’t hear Young come up behind them.
