When President Obama was campaigning for election in 2008, he promised that he would “transformationally change” this country. This appears to be one of the few promises he has managed to keep.
Over the past several weeks, we have learned the IRS has been targeting conservative political groups and individuals for audits and delaying for years applications to become tax-exempt organizations while at the same time approving similar applications for liberal groups in as little as three months.
It has also been discovered that the agency was releasing confidential financial information of Republican supporters to Democrats. When asked about this he said he knew nothing about it.
Yet while this was going on he promoted the woman who was in charge of this program to run the part of the IRS that is responsible for implementing ObamaCare and gave her a $103,000 bonus.
One of the founding principles of this country was freedom of speech and freedom of association. Under President Obama, this has fundamentally changed. From now on, when people speak out against a presidential administration or the government, or they contribute to the “wrong” group, they are going to wonder if their actions might bring them to the attention of a government agency. Is this the “transformational change” the President was promising? Should I be worried about writing this letter?
