Starting at 11 p.m. Sunday, Moccasin Mike and Wisconsin Point Roads close where the roads intersect.
Access to the point, Schaefer’s Beach, and Dutchman’s Creek will be prohibited for three nights.
Construction of Cell No. 5 at Moccasin Mike Landfill is making it necessary to haul about 60,000 cubic yards of fill from the landfill to the former landfill site, said Jeff Goetzman, Public Works director
“Integrity Grading & Excavating will increase the number of trucks hauling at night, which shortens the number of nights the roads will be closed,” he said.
“The off-road dump trucks used to haul for this project are too wide to comfortably accommodate two-way traffic, especially on Wisconsin Point Road so the contractor will be temporarily widening the shoulder for expected daytime traffic for the busy holiday week,” Goetzman explained.
Daytime access to the point will continue, but motorists may experience delays due to flagmen assisting traffic flow during daytime hauling. The road closures should not inconvenience point users at night because there is an 11 p.m. curfew for vehicular traffic.
