The Wisconsin Safety Council and Department of Workforce Development honored Lakehead Painting Company as one of 18 companies to win this year’s Wisconsin Corporate Safety award.
“We are proud to honor the deserving winning companies who work tirelessly to ensure safety remains a top priority, every day” said Janie Ritter, director of the Wisconsin Safety Council.
Winning companies provided details on their organization’s safety and health leadership, training and implementation programs, and employee participation. The reports included information on safety accomplishments and goals. The applications were judged by an independent panel of 35 safety, health and human resource professionals.
“I congratulate the 2012 Wisconsin Corporate Safety Award winners, who are helping Wisconsin maintain its competitive edge while setting an example for others as successful, profitable, forward-looking employers in making safety a priority for their workers,” DWD Secretary Reggie Newson said.
Lakehead is an industrial and commercial painting contractor that employs about 50 union employees and five management employees. The majority of Lakehead’s work is performed in the oil and gas industry with a focus on painting, abrasive blasting and fiber glassing of crude oil storage tanks.
“Lakehead Painting is excited and honored to receive such a prestigious safety award. Our team of supervisors, foreman and field crew have made an outstanding and conscious effort over the last several years to get our safety culture and safety program to the exceptional level it is at today. Receiving the Corporate Safety Award really validates their efforts and our entire crew should be proud of their accomplishments,” said Ryan Vieau, vice president at Lakehead Painting Company.
