Be aware of your employer’s policies and regulations on CPR. If you were in need of assistance what would they do or not do?
Recently my sister suffered a heart attack while on the job. As I understand the facts in the case, when she was found, she was face down on the floor. They called 911. When the first responders arrived, they shocked her heart. They got her breathing. The store looked at the video to let the doctors know exactly how long she was without oxygen to the brain. It was 15 minutes.
My family and I waited and prayed for her to wake up. Even after it has been 24 hours off medicine, she didn’t wake up. The hospital then ran a CT, MRI and EEG, and showed no brain activity. They also watched her for movement and other signs.
The doctors met with her family and told us what the test results said or didn’t say. We then decided to let her go.
I don’t know if the person(s) who found her if they would of started CPR would of made a difference in my sister’s life, but I will never know.
