A Superior man was sentenced Monday on federal firearms charges.
Roger O’Brien, 51, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Barbara Crabb to two years in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a gun, according to John W. Vaudreuil, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin.
O’Brien pleaded guilty to the charge April 11.
O’Brien was arrested after law enforcement learned that he pawned a gun at an Eau Claire gun shop and was attempting to retrieve it. O’Brien has criminal convictions dating back to 1979. This was his 10th felony conviction.
The charge against O’Brien was the result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office. The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Meredith P. Duchemin.
