Courtney Quam and Matthew Wolter, juniors at Superior High School, were selected as the Superior Optimist Club Youth for May.
Quam participates in SHS Key Club, Future Business Leaders of America and Pledgemakers. She is a dancer with the Dreamdance Academy of Duluth. She is a member of the Douglas County Chamber of Commerce Youth Leadership program and a past participant in the Scott Anderson Leadership Forum. This summer she will participate in the Rotary Youth Leadership program. Following high school, she would like to attend Arizona State University and major in event management with a minor in Spanish. Courtney is the daughter of David and Susan Quam.
Wolter participates in SHS Pledgemakers, Reading Acceleration Mentoring and Interact Club. He plays bass guitar in Central Assembly of God youth band and also runs the soundboard and serves in youth leadership. He is considering a career after high school as an X-ray technician starting his education at Lake Superior College and transferring to a four-year college. Matthew is the son of Dan and Wendy Wolter.
The students have been joining the Optimist Club for weekly luncheon meetings. They will have the opportunity next fall to apply for a $1,000 service award sponsored by the club.
